Styal’s Draft Neighbourhood Plan

Styal’s draft Neighbourhood Development Plan is available for viewing here.

This draft Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) has been developed following extensive consultation with Styal’s residents, visitors and businesses.

To finalise the NDP we now need to collect additional input from residents and wider stakeholders. A period of formal consultation on the Draft Plan takes place between 5th February 2024 and 18th March 2024, during which we will collect responses to the NDP and also host a drop-in-event held in the Village (see Events page for more details).

To provide your response to the Draft NDP, please first read the guidance on providing a response below, and then use the Response Form at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, you can email your response to styalvillage@gmail.com. You can also fill in a paper response form (printable copy here), and return to Earlams Community Shop.

Note, the NDP should be read alongside the Design Guidelines & Design Codes report which provides more detailed information on the character of Styal Village and guidance on how that can be maintained and enhanced by any development. All other relevant documents can be found on our Library page.

Providing a response

All responses to the Styal draft NDP will be logged and will generate a specific response in the Consultation Statement that we will produce once the consultation is completed. It is important that you provide your email address when leaving feedback because this allows us to demonstrate that we have had responses from a range of stakeholders involved with Styal. It is also important that you give permission for us to provide your details to Cheshire East Council. The next part of the process of developing the NDP requires that Cheshire East Council conduct their own consultation and they are expected to approach everyone who participated in the current consultation.

When leaving feedback please be as clear as possible as to which section or policy in the plan that you are referring to as this helps us understand your concern and then formulate the most appropriate response. Although we want to know if there are parts of the plan that you are unsure about or even disagree with, it is also important that you let us know that you otherwise agree with the plan. We want to demonstrate that the plan is broadly acceptable even if it still requires changes in the light of your feedback.

Note. the NDP is a planning document and therefore some matters of concern to the village are not covered in the plan. These are set out in Appendix 2 of the draft NDP as actions for Styal Parish Council
